A very happy new year to all readers of Horsley village notes. I sincerely hope that 2021 is full of promise and renewed optimism for you all. Hope is a good thing and perhaps it is the best of things. A new year gives us the chance of a fresh start.

If you would like to join the next Horsley parish council meeting using the internet or have an item to add to the agenda please contact Mandy Senior, the parish clerk, by email. The meeting is scheduled for 7pm on January 18th.

You are still able to purchase a copy of the Hearth charity calendar using the internet through the Hearth website. Postage is free.

The Hearth cafe reopened last Monday for takeaways. Artist studios are open by appointment.

Many thanks to Horsley WI members for making a Christmas hamper raffle to support the village. The WI has produced a new calendar of events for 2021. However due to current restrictions it may not be possible to start immediately.

Martin King, NCC area highways manager, has inspected the poor state of the road at the west end of the village. The road surface is potholed and uneven. This condition is creating noise pollution for nearby homes. Martin has kindly put forward a plan of action to rectify the problem.

Horsley Village Church were able to arrange a Christmas Eve service using the internet. Work is due to start this month to improve access to the church building. Planning permission has been approved. although the church is not open for services members are doing what they are able to support people in the village.
